Match Trivia
Played at Dumbarton. The ground was much the worse of the recent heavy rains. The Rangers kicked off and had a short run when was stopped by Lang and the ball travelled to the other end where a corner kick fell to the home team. McKinnon landed the ball in front of the goal and Lawrence with a ‘header’ scored the first goal for the home team. From the kick off Struthers and Steel showed some good passing but they were not backed up and the play was again transferred to the Rangers end where Gillespie repeatedly saved his charge in splendid style. The Rangers backs were playing well but the forwards were not in their usual form. From a neat run Brown had a shot at goal, which was punted out, by Gillespie, but Miller returned the ball and Hartley made a second score for his team. Still the Rangers were having the worst of it and shortly a third goal was scored by Dumbarton. Just before half time the strangers made a determined attack on the home citadel and scored their first goal. In the second half the Rangers played better together, Dunlop and Struthers doing good work in front and the home backs had a lot of hard work. Dunlop had a good run and centring well the Rangers scored their second goal. The Dumbarton again looked like scoring but were repeatedly repulsed and shortly before the finish the Rangers scored again thus equalising matters
