Match Trivia
As intimated last week, the game between the Rangers Club and Cumnock and District, was played on New Station Park last Thursday night. During the afternoon rain began to fall, which doubtless had an effect of keeping away many who otherwise would have been present. The Rangers management sent out their strongest team, so that a treat was witnessed by those present. From start to finish not an angry word was heard, and such a thing as a curse was never thought of. Unfortunately this cannot always be said of all the matches that are played on this field. At the commencement of the play the local team made a strong show, and looked as if they would hold their own fairly well, considering they were there as a gather-up, who has not appeared together as a combination. They certainly worked hard. At the close of the first half each team had scored one goal. In the second half the pace began to tell on the untrained home team. The visitors took it easy, but occasionally they gave just a few little touches of what could be done when put to it. The lightning shots of McColl took all by surprise who are not followers of the game. The exhibition game by the Rangers is easily the best ever seen in this locality. The home team made a good show considering the great difficulties they were playing under. At the close the scores stood – Rangers 4; Cumnock and District 1
