Match Trivia
This match attracted a crowd estimated at 5000 to Beresford Park, Ayr. Rangers opened with the wind, in their favour, and in half a minute, with a lovely shot, beat Ryley. Soon afterwards the same player, picking up a neatly placed free kick, scored a second goal. Parkhouse improved somewhat, but were seldom allowed within shooting range. A third goal was scored for Rangers by Campbell, and near halftime a shot from Smith was badly missed by Ryley and rolled into the net, the Rangers crossover leading by 4 goals to 0. In the second half play was more even, the home lot laying in very determined fashion to reduce the score against them. The only goal scored during this half was notched by Muir for Parkhouse 15 minutes from the restart. Towards the finish Smith of the Rangers in a collision with the Parkhouse right back was unfortunate enough to get his collarbone broken. The result of the game was – Rangers 4: Parkhouse 1.
