Match Trivia
Played at Ibrox, before about 6000 spectators, and on heavy ground. Rangers kicked off and at once made for Donnelly’s charge, but they were met by a stubborn defence, Watson and McDonald both being very safe. The Clyde could make little headway, but defended well, and it was twenty minutes ere Campbell, from a pass by Hamilton opened the score. Shortly after from a difficult position, McPherson added a second, and play became more even, but the Clyde forwards were weak in front of goal. A penalty kick was awarded the Rangers, and Gibson scored. Halftime result – Rangers 3 goals: Clyde 0. The visitors played up better in the early stages of the second half, but Crawford and Smith made a few mistakes, and Dickie post was almost a fine save. A little roughness was infused into the play, which spoiled what had hitherto been a good exhibition of football, and a second penalty was given the Rangers, but although Hamilton had three tries he failed to score. Near he close Gibson was injured and had to retire, but no further scoring took place. Result – Rangers 4 goals: Clyde 0.
