The ‘Tin Man’ joined Rangers on 12th October 1984 when Jock Wallace paid £100k to secure his services from QOTS. He was ineligible to play in the League Cup Final victory that same month but did win the competition two years later.
His man of the match semi-final performance against Dundee Utd was instrumental in Rangers reaching that 1986 final where we would go on to beat Celtic and really “kick start” the Souness Revolution.
Ted also played 15 league games that same 1986/87 season as Rangers would secure the League Championship for the first time in 9 years.
By the time the title was won, Ted had left the club to be reunited with Jock Wallace in Seville after beginning to fall foul of then Gers boss Graeme Souness. In all, Ted made 75 appearances and scored 5 goals including one very memorable strike at Boghead!
Nobody will ever forget his benefit match in 2006 when a huge Gers support travelled to Derby to show their appreciation.
Big Ted regularly comments on posts relating to his time at Ibrox and is always engaging with supporters who remember him with extreme fondness.
