Match Trivia

This clubs met in a friendly match at Tynecastle, Edinburgh yesterday there were upwards of 4000 spectators. The ground was rather soft. End-to-End play was followed by Baird beating McAllan. A free kick awarded to the visitors enabled the Rangers to equalise. Just on halftime the home forwards had a run up and McLaren scored, ends being changed with the Hearts leading by two goals to one. Shortly after the game restarted Taylor received a long pass from Hogg and scored. Another free kick awarded to the visitors enabled Oswald to diminish their accumulating arrears. Improving in their play the Rangers pressed earnestly, and Turnbull scoring the Hearts lead was reduced to one goal. Amid considerable excitement Smith put the teams on level terms. Hyslop next gave the Rangers the lead, and Turnbull increased the visitor’s score with a high shot. Result – Rangers 6 goals: Hearts 4 goals.
