These teams met last night at Ibrox Park, Govan, there would be at least 2000 spectators present. Ten minutes late the Linthouse kicked off. Rangers were soon at their opponenets goal, and Drummond conceded a corner. But nothing came of it. The Linthouse left wing, Wardrop and Logan put in a smart run and Logan shoot, but Murdoch averted disaster at the expense of a corner. The ball was placed behind, some splendid work by the Rangers front line kept the Linthouse defence on the move. At last a lovely effort by McIntyre and Miller had the desired effect, a shot by the latter going right under the bar. First goal Rangers. A few minutes later Linthouse got into the run, and Thomson equalised with a beautiful shot. Play was now very fast, and from a free kick the Rangers rushed through a second goal. Halftime result – Rangers 2 goals: Linthouse 1 goal. On resuming the play was scarcely three minutes old when A Smith scored a third goal for the Rangers. They continued to press but could not score. Coming away with a rush the Linthouse scored a second goal, Steel doing the trick with a long shot. Another corner for the Rangers ended with Barker heading their fourth goal. The game was more in favour of Linthouse after this, and Wardrop scored their third goal. Result – Rangers 4 goals: Linthouse 3 goals.
