Match Trivia
This game came off at Ibrox Park, Govan, in presence of a fair attendance of spectators, and ended in a tie, each side scoring two goals. The ground was in very good order, but the wind was very high, and at times very considerably interfered with the play. The Rangers kicked off against the wind, and made a bold attempt to score not long after the ball left midfield, but the Thistle backs and halfbacks were sure and active, and made some good returns. The Thistle pressed their opponents very closely, however and a good piece of play by Mathieson was the means of putting on the first goal of the day. The teams then faced up in the centre, and from a good bit of play by the whole of the forwards, led on by Hislop and Allan, the former put his club on equal terms with their opponents. One goal each was now the score, but before the halftime whistle sounded each team had put on another. In the second round the Rangers played with the wind at their backs, and again attacked the Thistle lines, but the wind was gusty, and they failed to add to their score so that when time was called the game stood drawn – with two goals all
