At Ibrox Park, Govan, estimated attendance 5000, drawings (gate and stands) £152. For some time after the start play was even, Rennie saving from Ballantyne and F Robertson, and A smith on the other hand striking the post. Latterly A smith scored for Rangers through Massy no judging the ball and after this Murray of Partick Thistle retired injured. He resumed later on, but early in the second half retired for good, and his absence made all the difference on the Thistle’s play. Livingstone added three goals, two of them coming from the fine centres by A Smith. In the second half it was largely in favour of the Rangers forwards against the depleted Thistle defence. Livingstone scored the fifth goal, while before the finish, May missed a penalty kick, and J Smith shot the best goal of the game
