Match Trivia

At Ibrox Park, Govan, estimated attendance 58,000, drawings (gate and stands) £1725. In the early moments of the game, Rangers were on the defensive, and following a mistake by Law Hamilton ran on and scored. Quinn shortly afterwards forced a corner, but Rennie cleared, and in the exchanges thereafter Celtic were more prominent, Quinn heading over, and Dodds shooting in great fashion. Bennett opened up the game for the Rangers, but McPherson missed a perfect centre, and halftime saw Celtic leading by Hamilton’s goal. In the second half Celtic were very aggressive and from a cross by Hamilton, McMenemy headed a second goal for Celtic. Subsequently play was more even, but Munro taking a pass from Somers, put Celtic three goals ahead, and it was not until near the finish that Murray after an individual effort by McPherson, scored the Rangers only goal. The Rangers were completely outplayed on the day’s form, with the exception of the last quarter of an hour
