Match Trivia
Delightful weather favoured the meeting of these clubs at Easter Road, Edinburgh, where there was an attendance of 6000 spectators. The Hibernian immediately made headway at the start, but were brought up, and after a run by Smith, McColl shot over the bar. In the next minute the Rangers were back again, and Rennie had to save from Low. Retaliating the Hibernian worked their way through the Rangers defence only however to see Stewart left the ball over. Still keeping up pressure, Campbell next had a try, which brought Sinclair to his knees. This was immediately followed by a great shot by Grieve, Sinclair being applauded for the wonderful save. Following this the Rangers came again, and both Smith and Kyle sent in hard shots, which Rennie safely negotiated. After the Hibernian had had a spell of attacking it fell to the Rangers to open the scoring. Hogg gave away a corner, and Smith placing the ball nicely Hamilton headed through. The Hibernian after this went at it hammer and tongs. Main let Stewart away on the right, and the little left-winger finished up with a shot, which Sinclair fisted over the line, but the corner yielded nothing, and halftime found the Rangers leading by one goal to nothing. No further scoring took place, which left the Rangers winners by the odd goal – the same result as the corresponding match of last year.
