Match Trivia
Rangers proved a big draw at Dens Park last night, when they met Dundee under Inter-City League auspices. Dundee were strongly represented the only change in the regular team being Potter, who appeared for McDiarmid at half-back. If Wilson not a success on Saturday, he became early prominent last night, and had one or two lovely tries. Accepting a pass from Wilson, Bell sent in a powerful shot from the right, but Dickie cleared. Dundee did most of the pressing at the offset, and MacFarlane gave Robertson a chance, but N Smith spoiled Robertson in shooting. Alex Smith had several lightning runs and terrific shots, which tested Muir severely. Wilson had another dashing attempt, and rushed the Rangers defence for all he was worth. The Rangers got down on the left, and lovely play was indulged in by Jocky Robertson, Smith and Speedie. A pass from Speedie gave Smith the desired opening and Muir was completely beat. Dundee followed up this with hard but ineffective work, Wilson testing Dickie with an almost unsaveable shot. Dundee had all the advantage up to half-time, but they could not penetrate the Rangers defence. T Robertson was especially dangerous, and his shooting was superb. Half-time :- Rangers 1; Dundee 0. Clever work by Speedie and Smith at the restart nearly brought further disaster to Dundee. Play thereafter became extremely exciting, White bringing Dickie to his knees from thirty yards out. Runs were fast and numerous, Smith introducing some fine work. Wilson was going great guns for Dundee shooting brilliantly, but he never succeeded in beating Dickie, who was in marvellously good form. Close on time, from a pass by Smith Speedie scored again for Rangers. Result :- Rangers 2; Dundee 0
