Match Trivia
Played at Ibrox Park, before about 14,000 spectators. The Rangers started most promisingly, and in the first minute Walker scored. Keeping up the pressure, the home team seemed to have their opponents thoroughly beaten, but Rennie was in superb form, and saved some dangerous shots. After 15 minutes play the Hibernian broke through and equalised. Play from this point was very even, but no further scoring took place to the interval. Halftime score – Rangers 1: Hibernian 1. On resuming the Rangers showed the better pace, but could not beat the Hibernian defence, and after a little the Edinburgh lot broke away, and after a weak save by Dickie another goal was added. The home team was now badly beaten and they were almost continuously on the defence. Time after time the Hibernian broke away and latterly they led by 5 goals to 1. In the closing minutes the Rangers railed and Stark scored from 30 yards out. Result – Hibernian 5 goals: Rangers 2 goals. The money drawn at the gated amounted to £300 7s 9d, and the stands £54 15s
