Match Trivia
The return League match between these clubs was played at Ibrox n Saturday, before about 25,000 spectators. The game from the outset was very fast, and both goals underwent very narrow escapes, the Rangers missing from a penalty kick early in the game. The Hearts left pair were putting in a lot of good useful work and Livingstone scored. For some time the visitors had the better of the exchanges, but for a breakaway by smith and Miller, Hamilton got a chance and equalised. Halftime result – Rangers 1: Hearts 1. The second half had hardly begun ere the Rangers broke away with a dashing run, and from a useful pass by McPherson, Hamilton scored a second goal. The Hearts became somewhat disorganised after this, and their defence became much less useful, and Alick Smith scored the Rangers third and last goal. Right on to the close of the game was very fast, but the Rangers were the better lot, and Hamilton narrowly missed scoring again. Result – Rangers 3: Hearts 1
