Match Trivia
Last night a fixture between those two clubs was brought off at Ibrox Park. The weather was in the highest degree boisterous, yet such was the interest excited in Govan over the match that a very large crowd braved both rain and wind to see it. The Linthouse showed up better of the two at the kick-off, and passed with wonderful accuracy considering the circumstances, and Peacock and Barker took the ball down the left once and again, when a low shot of Smith’s was kicked out by McKenzie. The Rangers left transferred the play to the other end, but again the ball went over the line. The wind now, if anything, increased, the ball got heavy, and the players found difficulty in keeping their footing, and darkness came on rapidly, so that scientific play was impossible. Towards the end of the first half McKenzie headed out a sure goal, but Linthouse managed to elude him and crossed over one to the good. On the kick-off Elspie scored a beauty, and then another was got, giving the Rangers the lead, which they kept to the close, there being no more scoring. The finest play on the field was exhibited by Allan and Henderson, who worked to each other beautifully, but they should also remember the others.
