Match Trivia

The St Mirren kicked off with the sun in their eyes, and an attack was soon made on the visitor’s quarters by the ‘light blues’. A run up by the St Mirren left wing made things look serious for the Rangers, but Reid defended his charge magnificently. Again the visitors returned and experienced ‘hard lines’, the ball striking the crossbar and rebounding into play. The St Mirren though at times rather scattered, played a good game, Close in halftime a corner fell to the Rangers, but it came to nothing, and when the whistle sounded no scoring had taken place on either side. On resuming, play was for a time equal. The St Mirren got the ball down to the Rangers goal, where it was sent through. For a considerable time after this the visitors hemmed in their opponents. At last the Rangers got a look-in, and Cameron had to kick out. Shortly after, Allan sent in a good shot from the wing, which was just a little too wide. Some give-and-take, followed, and then the science of action lay in the Rangers territory. Two fruitless corners fell to the visitors, and then the ball was taken over the line, only to be again returned. The Rangers play now showed a marked falling off in comparison with their opponents, who scored another goal through Langmuir. The last quarter of an hour’s play was nearly all in the Light Blues territory. At the call of time the result was – St Mirren 2 goals; Rangers 0
