Match Trivia

Played at Alexandra in presence of 4000 spectators. McLintock kicked off against a pretty stiff breeze, and the home team assumed the aggressive until Hill went flying down the left wing and crossed to his centres who were waiting, and ran it clean through. A fine exhibition of back play on the part of the Vale kept the Rangers in check until half time. With the wind in their favour the home team were soon in front of the Rangers goal which fell after a gallant defence. Up to the call of time with the exception of a few runs, the ball was always in the immediate vicinity of the stranger’s goal, which however, never fell despite the desperate siege to which it was subjected. Shot after shot being aimed at it by all the Vale forwards, who were far too eager to score, and consequently shot wide. The game thus ended in a draw each team having scored a goal
