Match Trivia
These clubs played at Kinning Park and the game resulted in a decisive victory for the Rangers – the score being 8 to 2 goals. Very great interest was taken in the match and although the afternoon was cold and disagreeable two or three thousand people turned out. The Rangers kicked off and for the first quarter of an hour the game was pretty evenly balanced. Both sides played splendidly and there seemed every prospect of a close contest. Then in the course of a scrimmage in front of the Parkgrove goal the ball was cleverly put through for the Rangers. Then the Parkgrove team settled down to their work with great determination and in the course of a few minutes scored a goal. The combatants however did not long result on a level. From that time onwards the Rangers had the game mostly in their own hands. They obtained several goals in quick succession and when half time was called the score stood five to one. The result of the game was then a foregone conclusion, and in the second half the Parkgrove players did not make any great effort to reduce the distance between them and their opponents. The splendid passing of the Rangers was too much for them and when they had a run now and then into the Rangers territory the back play of the later was always reliable. The Rangers succeeded in placing other three goals to their score and the Parkgrove only improved their by one leaving the result as we have said eight to two
