Match Trivia
These clubs met at Kinning Park. In spite of the disagreeable nature of the weather there was a large turn out of spectators. The game however was but a poor one, and there was little skilful playing on either side. This was no doubt owing in part to the extreme softness of the ground and the darkness, which settled down before the game was half over. At the outset the Rangers took their opponents altogether by surprise and in three minutes they had scored three goals. This was a smart bit of playing and it had a very discouraging effect on the Govan players, and to the spectators the result of the game was at once a forgone conclusion. Soon afterward the Rangers put another goal to their credit. Then the other team made a determine effort to assert themselves and by desire of hard work managed to make a beginning to their score. They continued to press their opponents very hard. Several times the post of the Rangers were in imminent danger, but when half time was called the figures were five to one. In the second half the Rangers aided another to the five and the Govan club in spite of some good work did not make another hit. The result therefore was six to one
