Match Trivia
The clubs mutually agreed with the consent of the League to play the return League match on Ibrox instead of Cathkin Park, the accommodation of which it was feared would be too severly taxed by the crowd, the weather was perfect. The Third won the toss, and the Rangers kicked off, the Third being first to get through. Drummond relieved with a powerful return, and Raeside’s goal was laced under danger. This was followed by smart work by the Third and for some time each goal was attacked, the shooting all round being defective. The last 15 minutes of this half was all in favour of the Rangers who quite failed to pierce the strong defence opposed to them. Halftime – No scoring. The second half was started with such vim, the Rangers leading in the attack. The resistance offered was of a telling nature and latterly the Rangers were forced back, Dickie saving grandly. After a good deal of aggressive work by both teams, the Third got away, and Graham from long range, tried a shot that took effect. From this point onwards play was identified with considerable dash, the Third gallantly holding their own, and running out winners by 1 goal to 0. This is the Rangers first defeat in the League competition. Gate £544; stand £130; total £674
