Match Trivia
These clubs met last night in Cathkin Park, in a benefit match for T Sloan, who has been about nine years with the Third Lanark, and one of their most consistent players. There was an attendance of about 2000 spectators, and with the tickets sold it is expected that about £70 will be reached. The opening play favoured Third Lanark, the front rank showing some good work, which ended in Tarbet scoring 10 minutes after the start. Keeping up the pressure, the home team kept busy round the Rangers goal, and two minutes later Smith added a second point, and Rangers afterwards became more prominent, and Livingstone got through in good style and scored. Halftime – Third Lanark two: Rangers one. The second half was greatly in favour of the Ibrox team, who for a long time were never far from Brownlie, and several good attempts to equalise were made by Livingstone, Noble and Murray. McFie and Smith were the most prominent of the home team, but Law and Sharp gave them little chance, and McArthur had not much to do. The equaliser came from Murray after some good play, and about half an hour after the resumption play had to be stopped owing to darkness. Result – A draw – two goals each.
