Match Trivia
About 35,000 people saw Rangers, playing at the top of their form, last night, beat Third Lanark at Cathkin Park, and thus make their position as League champions almost a certainty. Third played with great confidence and put up a fine fight. If the game tapered off a bit towards the close, it was not to be wondered at, for play started at a very hot pace. Third were first to reach the danger zone, F Walker sending behind, a feat which Gordon emulated at the other end the next minute. Frank of Walker family was soon prominent again with a try-your-luck sort of shot. Robb got it at the second attempt and then Campbell and Paterson in turn failed to gauge the wind, against which Rangers opened. First and clean the game continued. Campbell had hard luck not to catch a cross after a pretty. Brothers Walker-Flannaghan movement. Archibald missed narrowly from a Paterson cross. Rangers pressed hard for a time ere they opened the score through Bowie, who drove a lovely ball in to the net. That occurred a few minutes before the interval. The play was resumed at as keen a pace. In a tackle with Flannaghan, Meiklejohn was injured and went off, but returned in time to score a pretty goal following a corner. From then on, he changes places with Bowie and made quite a good how in the inside-right berth. All the Rangers were in top form, Paterson having being particularly skilful. Young Smith is also due praise for a clever exhibition. His kicking was capital. None of the losers marred their reputations by a long way, but I liked best the two walkers, McAndrew, Anderson, Campbell and Orr
