Match Trivia
Cathkin Park was well filled yesterday when these teams met in the return League fixture, about 14,000 turning out. The weather was charming, although a trifle hot for football. Third started but were repulsed, and Campbell for the Rangers got a soft shot home, the sun blinding Milne. McPherson cleverly made the score two, and Campbell ere halftime scored a third. On crossing over the Light Blues led by 3 to 0, but it was early evident that the Volunteers would assert themselves, which they did in no uncertain manner, Muir grandly fed by Hannah, repeatedly ran through the Rangers defence, and from two centred of his Devlin and McWhinnie scored. A trip by Crawford inside the penalty line was unnoticed by the referee. Time was called with Muir dangerously near Dickie, and a game in which the losses had very bad luck resulted – Rangers 3: Third 2. Drawings – Gate £286; stands £51 – total £348.
