Robert Ferguson Benefit Match. Rangers once more demonstrated last night what a wealth of talent they have in their young reserves. With only three players in the team who played against Morton on Saturday, they deservedly defeated Third Lanark in the benefit match for Robert Ferguson, the centre-half of the latter club. Cameron who deputies for Lock, saved confidently, and Ormonde, who partnered Richmond at back, is a player of great promise. Chapman was able to take up the centre-half position, and was noticeable throughout, Waddell and Hendry, also played cleverly. The forwards were very bright, Gibson partnering Paterson nicely. Third’s forwards never settled down, and the brunt of the work fell upon the backs and half-backs, all of whom performed creditably. Dornin tackled strongly, and parted judiciously. Fairfoul, however, was the best of the middle line, and Orr the better back. Brownlie had one grand save from Reid in the first half. All the Rangers’ goal were magnificently taken, two by Reid and the other by Gibson. Prentice got the Cathkin team’s point. Prentice putting through after Rankin had crossed close in
