On Tuesday night a match was played on Fir Park, Motherwell between the Rangers and a team selected from Motherwell and district, the proceeds to go to the Ibrox Disaster Fund. There was a fair attendance. In the first half the Rangers scored two goals, and the Motherwellites equalised in the second half, a pleasant game thus ending in a draw – 2 goals each.
This opening League games was well patronised by the supporters of both teams, and the fare served up was worthy of the teams engaged. The new recruits to the Cathkin camp did well, Graham putting the first goal for his side, and maintaining the reputation which made he made last season. Prior followed with No 2, and Drummond obliged with the third. The Rangers were seem to better advantage in the second moiety, and were successful in securing two goals through Raeside’s slackness in clearing. Graham secured his second goal, and the fourth goal for his team, thus putting Third Lanark two points to the good. The home team should do well in the League competition, as their team all over are tries, and earnest ones at that
