Match Trivia
Played at Cathkin Park before a fair attendance. The Third kicked off but play was not such of a nature as to cause any enthusiasm until Hamilton got away with an individual run. He was eventually overcome by force of number. Almost the Rangers front rank played a disgracefully game. A grand save by Dickie was followed by a clever shot by Hamilton, but still no goals. A corner to the Ibroxonians was nicely placed by Low but Milne cleared splendidly. The Thirds backs although somewhat spoiling the visitors attacks, and fairly assists their own forwards. Halftime – No scoring. In the second half the visitors slowly settled down better, but they could make little of Barr and Gardner, who were playing steadily. Smith by his superior’s speed saved his side when Low had a clear run in on Milne. Excitement increased as heat as Dickie saved again and again from the Volunteers. From a free kick against Miller for fouling Hannah a corner resulted. The outcome of the latter was goal for the Volunteers off Hannah’s head. The Third fully deserved the lead, their opponents became very eager, but even the aid of a free kick they could not manage an opening. Result – Third Lanark 1: Rangers 0.
