Played at Cathkin Park before 5000 spectators. Rain fell heavily at time during the match, which was the return fixture. The early play gave promise of a close and exciting game, as in the first 20 minutes each scored, the Third first through Buchanan, and the Rangers next with a clever shot taken from a difficult position by McPherson. This was all the scoring, yet from the juncture the Rangers on play, were masters of the situation, but in close quarter most of their work was negative by the excellent home defence. Near the finish the Third became active and almost scored the full complement of points. The result was one goal each, and the sums drawn at the gate and stands were £118 and £26 respectively; total £144
