Match Trivia

This important tie was played on the ground of the St Mirren at Paisley on Saturday in presence of a great crowd of spectators. The match throughout was contested in a fast and exciting manner, but at no time was the play of a high order, the players evidently working under exciting conditions. Five minutes from the interval Hamilton of the Rangers made a fine run towards Rae and had no difficulty in beating him in close quarters. The teams crossed over with the Rangers leading by 1 goal to 0. After resuming the St Mirren made a series of capital efforts to equalise. They were several times close on Watson, but no opening could they find, the defence of the Rangers being splendid. Play soon opened our, and though both goals were in turn attacked, no further scoring resulted, and the Rangers ran out winners by 1 goal to 0. The gate amounted to £418, and the stands to £82, a total of £500
