Match Trivia
These teams met in their League fixture at Westmarch, Paisley, and the match was the last of their League fixture this year. Henderson put on the first goal. After getting at Reid, McIntyre and Mitchell easily turned the Saints back, and from the quick run by the forwards Henderson beat Cameron for the second time. A few minutes later Kerr secured the third. After this the ground team played with improved combination, and McCartney scored a rebound being obtained by Wylie, but just on halftime McCreadie put on the fourth goal for the Rangers. For a time after this St Mirren played a rattling good game, Dunlop and McAulay putting in no end of work. The former especially showed his old brilliancy of form. On several occasions the ground team were unlucky in not scoring, but then the defensive lay of the Rangers was really good. The Rangers again took the upper hand, and following a fifth point by McCreadie, a sixth was secured by McPherson, and one of the Saints backs, through a misunderstanding gave them their seventh goal. This ended the scoring. The wind and rain to a great extent spoiled the play. The result was – Rangers 7 goals: St Mirren 3 goals
