Played at Renton. Renton set the ball rolling and in two minutes sent it between the uprights, but offside was allowed. Play soon became very fast but Renton had the best of it, and after twelve minutes had elapsed J McCall sent the ball between the posts. When play had run for a full half-hour Buchanan for the strangers equalised the game, and soon after, amid intense excitement Lawrie scored a second goal for the Rangers. In the second half J McCall and Davie brought some passing to a successful termination by sending the ball through the goal and placing the Renton on a level. To avert further scoring the Rangers exerted themselves to their utmost but cheered on by the spectators the home team hemmed in the strangers and seven minutes from call of time McNee registered a third goal, the game ending – Renton 3 Rangers 2
