Match Trivia
five goals to one. The wind was in favour of the strangers during the first half, but shortly after the commencement of the game they had to give the ground team a corner kick, which however was rendered harmless. The Westbourne worked up to the Rangers goal, and had two shies at it, but both were wide. The ball now travelled to the other end, and Cochrane, seeing his chance, scored the first goal for the home team. At the Westbourne goal an exciting scrimmage took place, and Fraser shooting for goal, struck one of the posts, the ball going into touch. Some fast play followed, but when the whistle blew for halftime no further points had been added. On the game being resumed Gow kicked a second goal for the Rangers, and a few minutes afterwards a third followed from a scrimmage in front of the visitors posts. Shortly afterwards Peacock kicked the ball through, but it was disallowed on the ground of ‘offside’. The Rangers now had complete mastery over their opponents, and succeeded in scoring other two goals. About the last minute however the Westbourne pulled themselves together and sent the ball through the Rangers goal. Time was then called with the result as above stated.
