Match Trivia

Owing to the hardness of the ground at Ibrox it was found impossible to proceed with the Rangers v Third Lanark cup-tie. A large crowd had assembled, and when the decision was made known they became indignant and demanded that the game be played. In the circumstances it was decided to play a friendly game only. It was agreed to play half an hour each way, and the understanding was that the players take care not to charge each other. The Third scored first off Burke from a foul, and added another goal by Johnstone, and when halftime was called the score was – Third Lanark 2 goals: Rangers 0. The game ended in a win for the Third by 2 goals to nil. Most of the spectators, although knowing that the game was a friendly one, waited till the close
