Match Trivia

Each of these teams opened its League season with a match at Ibrox. There was most gratifying attendance quite 9,000 spectators being present when the Rangers started. The home team, with the wind slightly in their favour, were not long in making pretty close acquaintance with Raeside, and from a well-placed corner Hamilton just put over. For fully half an hour Rangers had rather the better of matters, but then the Third took up the attack, and for a few minutes kept up a perfect fusillade of accurate shots, from some of which they were unlucky not to score, and at halftime there was no scoring. Third made an effort at the opening of the second period, but were gradually worn down by their opponents, who scored four goal, while the visitors failed to get the ball past Dickie. Result – Rangers 4 goals: Third Lanark 0.
