Match Trivia

Played on Ibrox Park before about 7000 spectators in drenching rain. Both teams were practically the same has did duty for the clubs last season, and good football was shown. Walker opened the scoring for Rangers from a fine cross shot by A Smith, but ere the interval Wilson equalised for Third Lanark from a well-placed corner kick. The second half was full of interest and the goal scoring was more prolific than is usually seen in a first-class match. Hamilton from an individual run put Rangers in the lead, but shortly after Wardrop scored for his side after Dickie had made a feeble save. Hamilton scored from a penalty against Barr for handling and Wilson again put Third on level terms. In the closing minutes A Smith headed through the winning goal. Result – Rangers 4 goals: Third Lanark 3. Gate money £158; stands £50; total 208
