Match Trivia

Played on Ibrox Park, before about 12,000 spectators. Rangers played with a strong wind behind them in the first half and after the first few minutes had all the better of the exchanges. After 11 minutes play Mackie opened the scoring, and after a similar interval the same layer scored again. To the interval Rangers continued to press but could not add to their score. Halftime score – Rangers 2: Third Lanark 0. The wind had died down considerably in the second half, and as a result play was more even, both goals being tested early. Third Lanark were very unfortunate near goal. Dickie being lucky more than once in clearing his charge. McInnes was injured and had to retire for some time and some fast play was witnessed, but the shooting on both sides lacked vigour. Result – Rangers 2 goals: Third Lanark 0. Gate-money £275 4s 3d; stands £45 3s 3d; total £420 10s
