Played at Ibrox Park before about 4000 spectators. Play in the first half was pretty evenly distributed, but the visitors showed a better understanding of each other’s play, and were in confectioners more dangerous at goal. W Hogg opening the scoring with a shot close in, which Dickie could not reach. This was all the scoring up till halftime. In the second half the visitors had the better of the exchanges. Their halves play was well up to the forwards, who frequently got well away, and W Hogg scored other 2 goals. Rangers near the close brightened up a bit, but they could make nothing of the defence opposed to them. Result – Sunderland 3 goals: Rangers 0.
