Match Trivia

At Ibrox Park, Govan estimated attendance 27,000 drawings (gate and stands) £675. Playing with the wind the Rangers had the better of the opening lay, but the St Mirren defence and particularly Gourlay was very safe. Fifteen minutes from the start McDonald got past Kay, and Campbell easily scored from his centre. Subsequently St Mirren were the better side, and Cunningham made the score levels. The play was to the forcible side, and before the halftime Paton and Brown had to retire injured. Rough work was too prominent again in the second half and the play in consequence suffered. If anything St Mirren even in their crippled condition were the more dangerous side, and Sharp and Craig were none too sure in dealing with the Paisley forwards. All over it was a game, which reflected little credit on either side
