Creditable debut by ex-juvenile Finlay! ‘Twas easy though to look good here Rangers walked it! Still. Commend the young centre. He was full of touches, tricks and unselfishness. Poor Saints! Capable defenders they had in Wilson, Logan and Milliken. Only one man in the forward line, Stead tried, the others languished. The tricky Caskie wasn’t. Black and White black-out was due to Ibrox defence Dawson, Gray and Shaw were superb. But then the home eleven was flawless. Not one did Saints get going. Traffic was all around Wilson. The home forwards were right on top, Gilmour working like any three others. Thornton headed the first goal, from McNee’s pass. Then Gilmour nodded home from Waddell’s corner kick. Restart brought a quick goal. Visiting backs got fankled; Finlay pushed the ball through a gap. Soft goal! McNee was next, he met a cross from the adventurous Dougie Gray, simply blasted it into the net. Waddell was the only forward who failed to score, but for making openings he hadn’t a rival. Saints needed repose at wing-half, and forwards with punch
