Match Trivia

Played at Ibrox Park before 500 persons. Having loss the toss, the Saints kicked off against a slight breeze, but with the sun at their backs McCreadie and Cowan for the Rangers got on the ball, but ere they had time to shoot Foyers Cleared. After 5 minutes Paton from a run by Oswald scored the first goal for the Saints. From a judicious piece of play by Barker the Rangers pressed Hunter, but the defence of the Saints could not be overcome until well on in the game, when Boyd by a splendid effort equalised. At halftime each side gad a goal. On resuming the Saints came away and obtained a corner. The ball was splendidly placed, but Haddow cleared. Another run by the Saints was productive of a second corner, but Boyd got the ball out of danger. McPherson took up the ball as it was passed on, and getting clear of Robertson he parted to A Smith, who scored a second goal for the Rangers. Saints made strenuous efforts to again get level, but all to no purpose, and the Rangers won by 2 goals to one.
