The season closed at Ibrox Par, Govan last night when these two teams met in a friendly fixture. Rangers played Crawford and Turnbull their latest recruits, and they also tried several of their second string. Renton had two new men in Hastings and Forsyth. The crowd would number about 2000. Renton lost the toss and kicked off. For a time play was even, then the Rangers got away, and Oswald scored their first goal. Five minutes later, McCall from a scrimmage equalised. Before the whistle sounded Oswald scored a second goal for the Rangers from a free kick. Halftime result – Rangers 2 goals: Renton 1 goal. Play was only resumed a few minutes when Johnston with a smart shot, scored for Renton, thus equalising the game once more. Still the Renton pressed, and McCall put on their third goal. Rangers tried to improve their position, but the Renton defence was too strong for them. A breakaway by the Renton ended by Hastings putting on their fourth with a long shot. A minute later a miss-kick by Crawford put the ball through his own goal for the firth time. This finished the scoring. Result – Renton 5 goals: Rangers 1 goal.
