Match Trivia
Rangers paid a big compliment to Willie Reid their centre-forward at Ibrox Park last night, by turning out what was practically a full league team. The only absentees from Saturday were Ritchie, Walls and Reid himself. Partick Thistle on the other hand, tried a number of young players. The result was that while there was a lot of tricky play, Rangers were always the better side, and might have won more easily than they did. Cairns opened the scoring with a good shot, and later on by heading one past Colquhoun gave Rangers the lead of two goals at half-time. In the middle of the second half Particks young outside-right carried the ball well down and scored a pretty goal, after which Cairns added his own and his teams third point.Houghton made his debut for the Ibrox club and played quite a satisfactorily. The stranger at half-back showed promise. A well-built North Country fellow, he tackled strongly and displayed a fair conception of what to do with the ball. All the others played to their usual high standard. Outstanding Partick Thistle men were Borthwick at right back, McLaughlin, brother to the Aston Villa player, at right-half, Crighton, Murray and Hutcheson
