Match Trivia

A year ago the Rangers were beaten by the Thistle at Ibrox, and until thirteen minutes from the finish yesterday it looked as if the same fate would befall them. The ground was frost bound. Gordon, Smith and Speirs were absent from the Rangers team. The Thistle took plenty of risks on the treacherous surface, and from a breakaway Gray scored. The Rangers played grandly in the second half and Livingstone and Kyle scored. Gray equalised for the Thistle, and Livingstone gave the Rangers the lead just on time. The Thistle defence was the best section of the team. Riddell has come to stay, and W Gray threatens to be a serious rival to Gallacher for centre half position. Ballantyne continues to give satisfaction, and was able to more than he got. RG Campbell is more at home at centre half than forward in the Rangers team, and Livingstone is back to his old form
