Match Trivia
On Ibrox Park last night, unfortunately the weather broke down in the afternoon, and the attendance suffered in consequence. From the outset play considering the sodden condition of the turf was of a very fast and at times exciting nature. The Light Blues as the game proceeded however had the better of the exchanges, and Stark beat McArthur from a centre by Dickie, the ball rebounding off the post into the net. Thistle forced matters after this, and Kennedy eventually got through, but Newbigging successfully negotiated his parting shot. After some midfield play, Livingstone from a centre by Dickie headed the leather into the net. Halftime – Rangers 2 goals: Thistle 0. On resuming the visitors had the advantage of a somewhat strong breeze, and Tennant tested Newbigging with a fast high shot, which however he easily cleared. The home men soon asserted themselves, and after fifteen minutes play McDonald beat McArthur close in. This was all the scoring and the result was – Rangers 3 goals: Partick Thistle 0. A regrettable incident occurred about a minute from the end of the Rangers and Partick Thistle match at Ibrox Park last night. Accepting a good pass from Livingstone, Dickie the clever outside right of the Rangers, got well away. He was beating Kennedy in the spirit, when the centre forward brought him to the ground. The crowd became very angry as they saw Dickie being carried off, and demonstrated throwing mud at the player as he passed to the dressing room. Dickie, injury, which was to the ankle caused him considerable pain when the trainer was treating it. After examination the doctor, who had been telephoned for, stated that he was afraid the anklebone had been fractured. In any case it was officially, stated that the injury would keep the player out of the team for the remainder of the season
