Led by McFarlane they cleared all opposition, Brown ran out to save, McFarlane tipped the ball to McPherson who scored the first goal rather easily. Halftime result – Rangers 1: Notts Forest 0. W Smith got possession, and made for McKenzie, Peacock passes to Smith, who arranged a long shot, which had the desired effect, the ball sailing out of McKenzie’s reach. Play now became more exciting, run followed run, and both teams strove their utmost to improve their position. Getting a good start, Higgins made up the field, and passing everything beat McKenzie for the second time with a swift low shot, which the Rangers custodian just tipped with his foot as it went through.
