Match Trivia

Played at Ibrox before about 7000 spectators. Rangers played good football in the opening half and W Walker scored a couple of good goals for Rangers. The United halves were a better lot than the opposing trio, but their forwards did not make the best of the opportunities offered. Halftime score – Rangers 2 goals: Newcastle United 0. In the second half the Rangers played rather easily to start with and this weakness was taken advantage of by R McColl, who scored easily with a magnificent shot close in. The visitors improved after this success, and were frequently dangerous, but could not add to their score, while Brodie with a long cross shot beat Cale near the close. Result – Rangers 3: Newcastle United 1
