Match Trivia
Played at Ibrox Park, before nearly 6000 spectators, and under the most favourable weather conditions. After ninety minutes of good football the Rangers secured full points by the narrow margin of two to one. The play exhibited by the teams was vastly different, the Rangers playing with fine precision, and all their movements were in the direction of perfect combination. Motherwell on the other hand played a more open and fearless game, which was full of dash, and it was letter trait, which brought them their first goal. The rangers all through had the most of the play, but the sound defence of Montgomery, who gave a grand display; Coleman, Armstrong and McNeil defied the beat efforts of Rankine, McColl, Kyle and Smith in the first half and for nearly twenty minutes of the second half ere McColl equalised. Galbraith scored for Motherwell in the first portion after Sinclair had saved from Richmond. The Rangers through Smith scored the winning goal ten minutes from the finish, and thereafter were all over the Motherwell. Result – Rangers 2: Motherwell 1.
