Match Trivia

In presence of about 10,000 spectators these teams met in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup. Rangers losing the toss kicked off aginst a strong wind, but despite this fact they were first to appear dangerous, Speedie missing an easy chance in the first minute. After acting for a short time on the defensive, Rangers again took matters in hand, and Smith sent across a stiff one which Sinclair only partially cleared, and thus enabled Walker to net the opening point. Morton made strenuous efforts to equalise, but they had to knuckle down again, as Hamilton finished up a fine individual run by passing all opposition and notching a second point, which proved to be the last till crossing over. On resuming Walker early made victory more secure by netting a third goal, and although in the closing minutes Morton came away with surprising dash they failed to score, a had game ending – Rangers 3: Morton 0. The gate amounted to £208 and stands £34
