Rangers met and defeated Kilmarnock at Ibrox yesterday by to goals to nil. The Light Blues never struck a great game. Their goals were cheaply obtained but the margin about hits off the balance of play. Kilmarnock put up a plucky fight, and while the forwards seldom threatened danger, yet their defence was A1. Rangers scored in each half. In thirty minutes, Cunningham gave Henderson a forward pass. He shot, the ball took the upright, and travelled across the goal. From the press box it looked no goal, but the referee awarded the point. A strong appeal caused a consultation with the linesman, and the original decision was adhered to. The second-half goal was also in the nature of a gift. Archibald shot, Hillcoat failed to gather, and Henderson swept in the ball which had already beaten the keeper. The ‘gate’ was 16,000. Robb for Rangers was safe, the backs streaky, Muirhead the best half, while forward Morton, Cunningham and Archibald were outstanding.
