Match Trivia
Played at Ibrox Park, Govan; McGowan started the game for the Rangers, who at once came away in a body, and made a strong attempt to lower Henderson’s charge. Hunter however returned strongly, and his forwards essayed a run, but the ball was sent into touch. The Rangers again came away, and for a minute or two confined play to the stranger’s territory, but no opening could be found. After a run to midfield y the visitors, the Rangers gradually worked the ball down, and Henderson had difficulty in saving a shot from the Rangers right. Forcing their way ahead, Kilmarnock looked dangerous, but were met by Hodge, who returned strongly. At halftime neither team had scored. When the second half was resumed there would be over 3000 spectators present. Kilmarnock re-opened play, and after several runs by both teams, in which the backs shone conspicuous, Henderson was tried with a shot, which he cleverly fisted out from below the bar. Kilmarnock came away with a rush, and a slight scrimmage took place in front of the Rangers goal, with the result that a fruitless corner was conceded. After the Rangers had made an unsuccessful attack on the strangers goal, Kilmarnock again returned to the attack, when the Rangers goal had a narrow escape. Following this Brodie had a chance, but his parting kick was weak. From this to the finish the game was keenly contested. The result was a draw – no goals.
