Match Trivia
Benefit match for the widow and orphan of the late John Taylor, who was the Rangers trainer for the past ten years. The venue of the game was Ibrox Park, Govan, Fully 600 spectators were present. Losing the toss the Internationals kicked off against a slight breeze. Play was pretty much in favour of the Rangers, whose combination was the acme of perfection. After ten minutes had gone Miller opened the scoring by netting the ball with a shot, which Anderson could not reach. Occasionally the Internationalist broke away, but they were seldom dangerous. Before crossing over Mitchell scored a second goal for the Rangers. Halftime result – Rangers 2 goals: Internationalists 0. The second half was almost a repetition of the first. Rangers added other two goals, Hyslop and Miller having one each. The Internationalists wrought hard for a goal, but the brilliant tactics of Dickie nullified their efforts. Result – Rangers 4 goals: Internationlist 0. The amount taken at the gate was £120. This is inclusive of tickets sold, of which there are several thousands out.
